Hand Injury Physical Therapy in Santa Clarita

Treating Hand Injuries in SCV

Injuries to the hand and wrist are prevalent and can cause excruciating pain if left untreated. Many hand injuries are caused by overuse or placing an excessive amount of stress on nerves and tendons in the hand.

At Next Level Physical Therapy & Athletic Performance, we work with individuals and athletes who have suffered hand injuries. Our primary goal is to get patients back to doing what they love, whether it is an amateur bowling league or the world-stage.

Hand injuries can be caused by normal wear and tear, hobbies such as gardening and painting, job requirements, or sports. Sports like golf, tennis, gymnastics, wrestling, football, and more have a higher risk for injury to the hands and wrist.

At Next Level, we treat individuals and athletes, providing tailored treatment plans that focus on achieving their specific goals. Contact Next Level today at (661) 383-9828 to get started on a pain-free life.

Common Hand Injuries We Treat

The hand and wrist contain over 27 bones, dozens of muscles and joints, and over 100 ligaments and tendons. Everyday repetitive movements such as pushing the lawnmower or office tasks can put a considerable strain on the hand and wrist resulting in discomfort, inflammation, and long-lasting pain.

Common hand injuries we treat in our Santa Clarita physical therapy studio:

  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • De Quervain’s tenosynovitis
  • Arthritis
  • Tendon Repositioning Surgery
  • Fractures
  • Trigger Finger

Hand Injuries Caused by Overuse

The overuse of the hand and wrist can pressure nerves, tear tissue, or inflame tendons. Repeating the same movements can cause pain, tenderness and limit your mobility.

Hand and wrist injuries caused by overuse include:

Carpal tunnel syndrome - Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused when the median nerve is compressed and may cause tingling, numbness, and weakness in the hand or arm. Carpal tunnel syndrome can be caused by several factors, including the repetitive flexing of the wrist, obesity, and inflammatory conditions.

De Quervain’s tenosynovitis - De Quervain’s tenosynovitis is a condition that affects the tendons near the thumb and presents itself as pain or swelling near the base of your thumb. De Quervain’s syndrome can make it challenging to participate in sports or everyday activities. It may affect your grip or your ability to lift heavy objects.

Trigger finger - Trigger finger is usually caused by repeated or prolonged gripping. The overuse or repetitive motion causes irritation and inflammation in the tendons of the finger.

NLPT is hands down the best
physical therapy team in the Santa Clarita Valley. Amy and her team are extremely knowledgeable and
invested in their patients. My husband first went to NLPT after having both of his shoulders repaired. His strength and recovery have been incredible. I also received services after experiencing severe back pain and having surgery on my wrist. Not only have they helped both of our recovery, but they genuinely care for their patients. The friendly atmosphere and family like comradery makes at an amazing place to recovery after experiencing pain.

I am just a few days shy of 69. I workout 5-6 days/wk & run 4 OCR races/yr (Spartan/GRIT/EPIC). I began having pain in both arms (right being much worse) & my left knee. I heard so many people at my gym raving about Amy at Next Level that I decided to make an appointment. To my surprise, I found out Medicare would cover this. First visit, Amy diagnosed the root problems that were causing my pain & began treatment. My first race of the year, the GRIT was coming up in a few weeks. By the day of the race, my pain level was dramatically lowered but still hindered me. Today, I did the LA EPIC & was not hindered at all!

I was referred here by a friend who had only positive things to say about Next Level. I am 61 years old and have a few pain issues including sciatica, back, neck and jaw pain. Amy, Brian and the entire staff are very knowledgeable and skilled. We tried different modalities to see what worked best. I have been to other PT offices that have a tendency to do the same thing over and over. This is where Next Level is different. They ask questions and want feedback. Also, this place beams nothing but positivity even though you are there do deal with pain and rehabilitation issues. Everyone there is friendly and welcoming. The name Next Level really does represent what this place is all about.
