DeShawn has been around sports and athletics for most of his life. He started playing basketball at the age of 4 and football at the age of 8. He has worked with high school athletes injuries and on and off the field. His PT journey began when he separated his shoulder playing college football. He went to a clinic and fell in love with the environment and the entire process while he was rehabilitating his injury. When he came back home, he worked diligently to get through his classes and graduated with his Bachelors in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science. He currently works with an in-home patient with muscular dystrophy. There he spends time stretching and helping with daily tasks that his patient simply cannot do. He is excited to continue his journey and learn from the best here at Next Level Physical Therapy.
DeShawn attended College of the Canyons and earned a Bachelors in Kinesiology - Exercise Science from Cal State University, Northridge. He attended Granada Hills Charter High School and was one of the team captains for the Football and Shot put team. Professionally, he created workout programs for multiple clients at CSUN and coached a little league basketball team to the semi-finals. DeShawn is also certified in Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) and is working on getting his CSCS.
When DeShawn is not at the happiest place on earth (Next Level), he enjoys spending his free time at the second happiest place on earth, Disneyland. He has an annual pass and tries to go at least 3 times a month. In addition to exploring the tough streets of Anaheim, he enjoys exploring Los Angeles for food and fun activities with friends. Random Fact: His favorite flavor of ice cream is Brown Butter Almond Brittle.
